Where can I buy the Ryanair-approved hand luggage?

by admin on June 7, 2010

You’ve probably seen our story before on the Ryanair-approved hand luggage but actually getting your hands on one of these may be a bit trickier than you thought. Although the news blurb proudly claims ‘available on Ryanair’, it’s hard to see anywhere where you would buy it.

A quick call to customer services, and they reckon that it’ll be on the website in the coming week, although I wouldn’t back that with any conviction here to deliver it on time. The price being 79 Euros or £69 including delivery anywhere in Europe, it’ll be interesting to see how these will be sold. Will they, for instance, charge for use of debit/credit cards like their booking engine? And what differentiation will there be against cheaper Samsonite models, apart from the design?

Ryanair already have a tie up with an on-line mall, www.ryanairbuyasyoufly.com – I’m surprised they did not allow distribution via this channel as there would also be the opportunity to purchase in flight – where customers could actually see it – and get it delivered, which would save a hell of a lot of work on the logistics side.
